Re-Aligning a Global Non-Profit’s Brand

Green Heritage Fund Suriname (GHF) is an organization that protects wildlife in the Suriname rainforest. They care for injured and orphaned animals like sloth’s, armadillo’s, and anteaters then release them back into the wild and they also provide education and facilitate research to combat extinction of vulnerable species due to climate change, deforestation and illegal trade.

GHF Suriname runs on donations and volunteers, and they need a lot of money to keep their important work going. Therefore, a small group of Surinamese living in the Netherlands started a sister organization, GHF Netherlands, to fundraise for the cause. Mila’s mom Mirjam Burkhard is the head of this organization.

GHF Suriname recently went through a brand refresh by updating their logo, however GHF Netherlands was still using the old branding. Recently, Mirjam was asked to be interviewed about her role at Green Heritage Fund by “Libelle” a well know women’s magazine in the Netherlands.

In anticipation of this press opportunity, GHF Netherlands decided it was time to update their logo to match GHF Suriname’s re-brand. Mila jumped on the opportunity, having been on a Sloth rescue mission with GHF in the past herself and having seen the passion, effort and care the volunteers put into the preservation of these animals. As a cause close to our hearts, Kazoo worked with GHF Netherlands pro bono to update their logo.

We used the guideline of the GHF Suriname rebrand and applied it to the Dutch sister organization, creating a cohesive look between both organizations that could even be used for future expansion, for example Green Heritage Fund USA.

Now, the Libelle article is out, and Mirjam has a full page feature where she talks about her passion for nature and wildlife and the importance of Green Heritage Fund. The updated logo is on the website ready to be viewed by a new wave of Dutch donors who care about the Suriname rainforest and its inhabitants.
